A bold, traditional German-style rye sourdough with real depth and character.
Baked with 50% dark rye, 25% light rye and 25% white wheat flour, this loaf delivers everything you’d expect from a proper rye: earthy complexity, gentle sweetness and a natural sourdough tang.
The crust is thick, dark and deeply caramelised to a rich mahogany finish – rugged, aromatic and satisfyingly crackled. Inside, the crumb is dense and close-textured, with a high moisture content that keeps each slice soft and flavourful.
Thanks to the sourdough fermentation and rye’s natural ability to retain moisture, this loaf stays fresher for longer, making it perfect for slicing through the week.
Ideal for open sandwiches, smoked fish, strong cheeses or simply toasted with salted butter.
Order deadline - 4pm Wednesday for Saturday in-store pickup between 8am-4pm at Lesley Ford, No. 5 Arbery Arcade, Market Place, Wantage.
